Geographic Orientation

Since inception, South Street has firmly believed the growth of the Southeastern Corridor would outpace the rest of the country. This thesis was further bolstered by the 2010 Census’ findings that 14 of the 15 fastest growing cities in the U.S. were in the Southeastern Corridor.  The firm’s perspective that there will be a strong recovery on the heels of the global pandemic and will only further accelerate and grow these trends. This does not imply that general macro-economic trends are part of the underwriting– only that there is a presumed upside in the region that provides a measure of confidence. In all cases, South Street remains focused on targeting quality locations and properties acquired at a basis that provides for long-term value.

Social and environmental responsibility are core values that anchor our investments and operations. Kiawah Island has set the standard in terms of how to responsibly develop a barrier Island from an environmentally sensitive perspective. Here, and at The Cliffs and Salamander are communities where our footsteps are deliberately light — nature, preservation and conservancy lead the way.

South Street and its portfolio companies have raised in excess of $1 million hosting golf tournaments and other fundraising events for dozens of charitable fundraising events. Additionally, the Kiawah Island community supports a wide range of worthy causes.

South Street and residents of The Cliffs have also come together to create Cliffs Residents Outreach (CRO), funding literacy, nutrition and mentoring for children in the Carolina Upcountry. Since its inception in 2007, CRO has raised over $3 million and dedicated thousands of volunteer hours.
